Located in the northwest of the downtown area of Suzhou, across Gusu District and Xiangcheng District, with Jinchang New City to the west, the central area of Xiangcheng District to the east and Tiger Hill Scenic Area to the south, Tiger Hill Wetland Park is one of the “landscapes in four corners” under Suzhou’s urban planning, an important “green wedge” in a green space system consisting of “two belts, three rings and five wedges”, and an important “ecological green lung” in the northwest of Suzhou as well as an important carrier for Suzhou to accelerate the development of ecological civilization. With a total planned area of 873 hectares, Tiger Hill Wetland Park mainly consists of eight functional areas, namely, water town farming area, fishing area, lotus culture area, flower area, urban farm area, reed planting and ecological conservation area, science popularization experience area and overwater leisure area. As a wetland recovered and renovated from a fish pond, Tiger Hill Wetland Park displays such natural features as islands, banks, lakes and bays. At the same time, Tiger Hill Wetland Park, together with well-known Tiger Hill Scenic Area, actively develops local culture and spread local cultural memory and heritage. With a large area of natural water bodies, Tiger Hill Wetland Park, through water purification, has created abundant habitats, which have been home to diversified animals and plants. As an ecological corridor connecting upstream water head site of the city, Tiger Hill Wetland Park plays a unique role in safeguarding Suzhou’s urban ecological safety.
